St. Kitts biometric enrolment for families
The St. Kitts and Nevis biometric passport upgrade applies to the entire Citizenship by Investment family, not only to the main applicant. Spouses, adult dependants and children who obtained citizenship through the Programme must be included in the modernisation process in accordance with the standards applicable to their age.
For families, the main challenge is often logistical rather than technical. Parents may need to coordinate several appointments, international travel, school calendars, document preparation and passport delivery. Starting early makes the process significantly easier.
Does Every Family Member Need to Enrol?
All citizens who acquired citizenship through the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme are required to complete biometric enrolment, including dependants and children.
Biometric capture is age appropriate. An adult and a young child will not necessarily provide the same set of biometrics, but each affected family member must still be properly registered and presented when required.
Families should not assume that the main applicant’s enrolment automatically completes the process for a spouse or child. Each citizen’s record and passport must be addressed.
Planning a Family Appointment
Where possible, families may seek coordinated appointments at the same collection location. Availability and booking arrangements vary, and a same-day family appointment should be confirmed rather than assumed.
Before booking, families should review:
- the number and ages of all citizens requiring enrolment;
- the validity of the passports used to travel to the appointment location;
- differences in names across birth, marriage and passport records;
- custody or consent considerations affecting a minor;
- school and work commitments; and
- the time required for passport production and delivery after enrolment.
If family members live in different countries, an Authorised Agent can help determine whether they may enrol at different approved locations while remaining connected to the same family file.
What Happens at a Child’s Biometric Appointment?
Children must attend as directed and will be processed under age-appropriate international standards. The enrolment centre will capture the information required for the child’s age and passport.
The live photograph taken during enrolment is generally used for the passport, which removes the need for a separately printed passport photograph under the integrated process.
Parents should prepare children by explaining that the appointment is short and involves a photograph and simple identity checks. Bringing a child rested and arriving early can make the experience more comfortable.
The Government’s London VIP Biometric Enrolment Suite has also advertised whole-family enrolment in a single appointment, subject to availability and an additional service fee.
Government Fees for a Family
The published standard biometric enrolment and passport-upgrade fees are:
- US$2,500 for the main adult applicant
- US$2,000 for the second adult applicant; and
- US$1,300 for each child under 16.
Families should request a current quotation because classification, optional VIP services, courier expenses and professional agent fees can affect the total cost.
Payment is processed through the official Government platform. Applicants should be cautious of requests to pay biometric fees through unofficial websites or unverified third parties.
The July 31, 2027 Deadline for Existing CBI Families
Existing Citizenship by Investment citizens must complete biometric enrolment by July 31, 2027. This includes family dependants and children.
The family should not delay until one person’s passport is close to expiry. Older programme passports are subject to the biometric transition rules even where the printed expiry date falls after July 31, 2027.
Families planning vacations, school travel or business trips in 2027 should complete enrolment well in advance. The initial passport-production period is approximately four to six weeks, and international courier time may be additional.
Passport Production After a Family Enrols
Since September 1, 2026, the biometric process has been linked directly to passport production. The family’s personal information, biometric data and supporting documents are submitted digitally through the official Government portal after the required notarisation.
The Passport Office in St. Kitts and Nevis reviews and produces the passports. Passports are not printed or collected at overseas biometric centres simply because enrolment took place there.
Families should confirm delivery arrangements and avoid booking travel until their new passports have been received and checked.
